Surviving Hope

Surviving Hope is an original theatre play inspired by real stories exploring notions of hope and mental wellness. The Playwright, Ivan Lim, uses his personal experiences and theatrical knowhow to juxtapose the elements necessary to express the deepest and intricate dilemmas faced in broken relationships. Told through the narrations of kids and parents, the story looks into how our childhood could potentially be a perpetual cycle of its own; in reinforcing our fundamental lack as a human being.

Surviving Hope is a theatre piece scripted to shed more light into the current stigma made on mental challenges in Singapore. The project seeks to stir deeper conversations and public discourse over mental problems people faced and how it could be important for everyone to see a dim of hope in every of our own struggle.

The term 'Surviving Hope' paints a faint optimism in overcoming our greatest fears and struggles and highlights the importance of staying committed till the very end. The play is presented in a covert narrative, through the eyes of children and parents, in bringing out the ironies of human behaviors and conflicting mental states.

I and You

Caroline and Anthony are classmates, but they barely know each other. Caroline suffers from a liver disease and doesn’t attend school very much. Anthony is the popular one in school. He is friendly, confident, and the star basketball player on the school team. The event that brings them together is their Project Work module in Literature. Through their (initially unwilling) analysis of the literature text, they discover similarities they both share in life. The walls come down, they bond, and the relationship deepens. The end of the play reveals a shocking twist. A twist that will change entirely what you thought of the situation. A twist you won’t see coming.
A theatre play that will arrest you with the importance of human connections now and always.

Subsonic Eye and Friends

Subsonic Eye are heading back to the live stage. Ahead of their first US tour this June, the Singaporean indie band are holding a live fundraiser concert, Subsonic Eye and Friends, this 13 May 2022 at Gateway Theatre. Presented by Bandwagon Live, the 'Cosmic Realignment' act will be joined by fellow local acts Sobs and Cosmic Child. Since their formation in 2017, Subsonic Eye has grown to be one of Singapore's most prolific indie bands. Comprising Daniel (guitar), Wahidah (vocals), Spencer (bass), Lucas (drums) and Jared (guitar), the noise rock act create music that radiates a sense of warmth and serenity, contrasting their vivid stories of ecological grief and adolescent anger. More recently, the band released their first Malay EP Dijangja / Matahari which explores the romantic relationship between Daniel and Wahidah, marking the first step of Subsonic Eye's new creatively organic approach to music-making. The EP follows their recent album Nature of Things that they describe as a conceptual 9-track journey of coming to terms with your place on earth. Subsonic Eye also recently made history as the first Southeast Asian act to be featured on Live at Home by KEXP, the acclaimed Seattle-based indie rock radio station.
