About Us

Gateway Arts Programmes are run by Gateway Academy, a non-profit arts organisation (UEN No: 201605922E) that provides meaningful arts programmes to serve communities and inspires people through arts and creativity. Our learning programs are rooted in arts practice, and delivered by experienced arts professionals,  and aim to inspire personal development through arts & creativity. We provide programs and opportunities for children, adults, organisations and corporations, and are a bridge for those who are looking for how to engage with the arts.

Gateway Academy Programme Director

Pearlyn Cai has been involved in the arts for over a decade in roles ranging from performance, production management to producing. She has extensive experience in community engagement arts projects working with ArtsWok Collaborative, Arts Fission and The Philharmonic Orchestra’s ‘The Mazu Chronicle’ and ‘Garden.Uprooted’. She recently produced ‘Off Kilter’ by Ramesh Meyyappan, a Scotland-Singapore visual theatre collaboration co-presented by TheatreWorks Singapore and Tron Theatre Scotland, which received 4 star reviews in The Herald and garnered ‘Best Actor’ nominations for Life! Theatre Awards (Singapore) and Critics’ Awards for Theatre in Scotland. Her works with independent artists such as Samantha Scott-Blackhall, Lim Chin Huat and Alessandra Fel have been commissioned by Arts House, National Gallery and M1 Fringe. She has programmed and co-produced theatre, music and community programs and festivals at the Esplanade which resulted in several critically acclaimed works and box office successes, some of which were nominated for and won Life! Theatre Awards. She started new programs and initiatives at Esplanade such as the popular ‘A Journey Through Local Music’ concerts for their National Day Celebrations and Esplanade’s 10th Anniversary Roadshows which brought quality performances to various heartlands. Previously she had worked at the Singapore Biennale and Singapore Art Show for National Arts Council, as a Programmes Manager, and headed the Education & Outreach programs, where she piloted the first Hokkien Contemporary Art Tour with CDC, as well as Volunteer Management in 2008. She also worked to kickstart the Singapore International Jazz Festival Academy programs. Pearlyn is passionate about how artistic visions can translate into tools for social and cultural change. She graduated with a Bachelor of Creative Arts, University of Melbourne on a National Arts Council (Singapore) bursary award and is a recipient of NAC’s Creative Producer Development Program. She also organises Producers SG Social.

Gateway Theatre is managed by Gateway Entertainment.
