Selubung

Pentas Budaya is an annual Malay theatrical production under the NUS Malay Language Society that uses theatre as a platform to discuss important issues pertinent in the Malay society.

This year, Pentas Budaya will be touching on issues and problems faced by youths. Selubung tells the story of a group of friends as they navigate their final year in university. When Najwa’s big secret is revealed, the group find themselves at crossroads as they grapple with issues of faith, friendship, and agency. The script, written by PB19’s very own committee, deals with questions relating to the female body, the right of choice and religiosity.

Reach for the Stars by JE Dance Academy

"Reach for the Stars" features music from five of the best known artists from the 70s to the early 2000s. Come join the 270 dancers from the brand new preschool group all the way to the Advanced grades as they celebrate some of the most well-loved tunes of all time.

Socialite Kimberly Zhang finds herself at crossroads, grappling between pursuing her independence and love interests, and managing the expectations of her family and their traditional values. In their(?) journey, the Zhangs discover what ‘family’ really means in modern day Singapore.

"Enjoy the Process" EP Launch

Krysta Joy presents "Enjoy the Process", a 5-track EP on hope, love and growth.

If life, to Forrest Gump's mama is like a box of chocolates, then life (so far) to Krysta Joy is like a machine. A constantly evolving cycle of progress, join Krysta for a night of lessons and life stories as she sings of the gears and working parts of life thus far.

Supported by RnB duo Soulful Ghosts, Krysta and her band will be bringing to stage the newest tracks from her EP along with her tasteful repertoire of cover songs. Join Krysta in the celebration of the ups and downs of life by revelling in uplifting messages and artful musicianship on 19 June 2019.

Into the Woods

We are pleased to announce our Annual Theatre Workshop Musical this year – Into The Woods – is scheduled to take place on Sunday 16th June 2019 at the Gateway Theatre, Black Box with 2 performances at 11am and 2.30pm.

Into the Woods is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. The musical intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm and Charles Perraultfairy tales, exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. The main characters are taken from “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, “Rapunzel”, and “Cinderella”, as well as several others. The musical is tied together by a story involving a childless baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family (the original beginning of The Grimm Brothers’ “Rapunzel”), their interaction with a witch who has placed a curse on them, and their interaction with other storybook characters during their journey.

Snow White

We are thrilled to announce our Annual Ballet Performance this year is scheduled to take place on Saturday 25th May 2019 at the Gateway Theatre with 2 performances at 2pm and 4.30pm.

Every year we stage a large scale Ballet Performance at an Outside Venue, in order to give students the opportunity to perfect their training and perform on the big stage. Snow White is based on the German fairytale by the Brothers Grimm. It tells the classic story of the princess and her stepmother, the evil queen, who is envious of Snow White’s beauty, and also features the well-known cast of characters including the seven dwarfs, the huntsman, and the handsome prince as well as the magic mirror and poisoned apple.

Dhaara

Swarna Kala Mandir (SKM) proudly presents to you Dhaara-the divine rainfall. This thematic dance production will have elements of both Bharathanatyam and Kathak and will be accompanied with live music by our amazing local musicians. Professional dancers, freelancers, company dancers and students of SKM will also be a part of this production.

Peter and the Wolf

Very Special Theatrics is back again with their latest inclusive production, Peter & The Wolf!

Set in a farm and surrounding fields, the story focuses on Peter’s brave attempt to save a hungry wolf from some hunters. The play will also feature some of Peter's animal friends who help in his adventure.

Watch as our storyteller, actors and music composer come together to bring this classic tale to life!

This is an inclusive theatre production. The shows are relaxed performances and will have Audio Description provided. It is also accessible to wheelchair users.

This production is organised by Very Special Arts Singapore Ltd (VSA), A charity dedicated to provide individuals with special needs access to the arts. VSA is affiliated to the National Council of Social Service in Singapore (NCSS) and VSA – The International Organization on Arts and Disability in United States. VSA was first launched in Singapore by Ambassador-at-large Professor Tommy Koh on 27 September 1993.
